Lake Education Days

Periodically throughout the year, the Soil and Water attends and presents information to lakeshore owners at Lake Association meetings to help educate landowners on good shoreland stewardship practices. Whether it is stopping mowing along the water’s edge, installing gutters and downspouts, or planting native vegetation, there are many things a landowner can do to mitigate stormwater or pollutants from entering a lake off their property and causing problems. These mitigation efforts positively impact a lake and its water quality making them much more desirable for recreational activities or fishing. Lakes the Soil and Water has presented at in the past include Osakis, Big Sauk, Long, Big Swan, Beauty, Pine Island, Big Birch, Mound, Little Birch, and Fairy. The Soil and Water looks forward to continuing its partnership with lakeshore owners and lake associations in promoting good shoreland stewardship in the County.
