Hazard Mitigation Plan

Hazard mitigation planning builds a foundation for identifying risks, hazards, and threats that may impact Todd County. The plan helps the county, cities, townships, schools, agencies, and other partners identify actions that can reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people, property, infrastructure, and the environment.

Todd County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan addresses natural hazards such as tornadoes, straight-line winds, severe winter storms, flooding, drought, wildfire, and extreme temperatures. The plan is multi-jurisdictional and includes Todd County, cities, townships, school districts, watershed districts, and other participating stakeholders.

Having an approved Hazard Mitigation Plan also helps maintain eligibility for certain FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant programs.
